CHILD'S ACADEMY : How to Shoot Better Production Videos for School

We need your help so we can produce videos with great quality. These videos are opportunities to capture memories of your child, the children in Child's Academy, with a much better quality that will stand the test of time.

1. CAMERA/MOBILE SETTINGS

set your mobile phone/camera to capture videos in, at least, HD mode (1920x1080). If you are using a mobile phone, use the backside camera as this is by default better than your front screen camera. If your phone can capture 4k, please set it in that option.

2. LIGHTING

look for the largest and most accessible natural light at the time of day with accessible in your home, usually a window. Have your child stand next to your window and make sure there’s ample space between your child and the wall behind him/her. Remember, the closer your subject (your child) is to the window the harsher the light (Figure 1), the farther you are from the window the softer the light. For this project, we need to have a softer light, so follow Figure 2 below

Figure 1
Figure 2 (Yes)

3. FRAMING

place the portable green screen behind the subject where it covers enough of the subject’s body in the frame. Make sure that the framing is similar to Figure 3 where there is ample space from the top of the subject’s head and cropped just at the bottom of the subject’s chest area. That’s how you know if you’re close enough for the shot. (Remember, make sure that the lighting has enough exposure like Figure 2)

4. ACTION!

Shoot away and get as much takes as you can so you can decide later on which footage to send. Be sure to allow 3-5 counts from the time you press record before you call out “action!.” And then remember to wait another 3-5 counts after your subject has done his/her performance.

5. SENDING YOUR FILE.

Do not send your file through messenger. Facebook (Messenger) automatically optimizes the file size and drops down the quality to an unusable file for professional editing. Instead send it through your Google Drive if you have one, or you can send as much as 2GB through Wetransfer for free anytime. Confirm the email for the particular project and just follow the easy steps in this video. Click here to go directly to Wetransfer.

We're so glad we can collaborate with you in creating valuable experiences for your children and we hope this has helped you and we look forward to receive your videos.
